Baroque sculptural altars
Abstract
The work focuses on mapping Baroque sculptural altars from the 17th and 18th centuries in Bohemia. The introduction mentions the origins of this type of altar in connection with Italian and transalpine altar architecture. In the following chapters, the work focuses on categorizing altars based on their architecture and iconographic program. For each type, a specific example from both abroad and locally is given. The thesis concludes with a catalog and a clear table with photographic documentation of those Czech works that received greater attention. A list of all the altars that were mapped in Bohemia is also included, but due to their large number, it was not possible to provide a more detailed description of them.
