Abstract

The rapid expansion of e-commerce and digital marketplaces has increased the volume and complexity of product information managed by organizations, intensifying the need for accurate, consistent, and compliant data. As companies seek greater efficiency and operational reliability, automation has become an essential lever to reduce manual workload and reinforce the quality of Product Information Management (PIM) processes. This project examines how lightweight, script-based automation can support the optimization of catalogue processes in a large online retail environment. A structured framework was developed to assess manual tasks, identify automation opportunities, and ensure a consistent approach to design, implementation, and monitoring. The framework was applied to Worten Marketplace, where the diversity and scale of third-party (3P) product data created challenges in regulatory compliance, validation speed, and catalogue standardization. Two automation scripts were implemented: one ensuring compliance of non-prescription medicines with the official INFARMED list, and another automatically validating and rejecting non-compliant products before activation. The results reveal substantial improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and process autonomy, achieved with minimal investment. Together, the structured approach and the results achieved provide a strong foundation for future advancements and justify the exploration of more robust and scalable solutions to further strengthen PIM practices within the catalogue team.
