Materials

These are the materials for the study. We adapted a SoSciSurvey survey provided by the CREP team and programmed it in qualtrics. Their materials are all reproduced without revision. The main outcome concerns whether hearing about a fixed mindset increases psychological vulnerability and leads to poorer course outcomes (and that vulnerability mediates to association between fixed mindsets and the course outcomes) . Our four extension hypotheses and their related questions (1: participant characteristics [growth mindsets, higher SES, fewer academic setbacks], 2: participant race, 3: social support, 4: additional course outcomes) all occur *after* this main manipulation and DV measurement.
