This book aims to offer the details of the circulation of information about Patagonia in Europe at the end of the eighteenth century through the work of the Jesuit Thomas Falkner and his Description of Patagonia. As main objectives, the author will address the works related to Description of Patagonia, its continental circulation, the different editions and translations published, and its reception in various audiences. To this end, in the different chapters, Liziardi addresses issues ranging from more generic ones, such as the historical context of the era, Falkner’s life, and the original publication of his work, to more specific issues, such as its framework of circulation and its different editions in French, German, and Spanish.
