Abstract

Description of a medieval astrolabe inspired by an Arabic astrolabe, following the discovery of the instrument in a secondary school in Ravenna. Dating and complete examination of astronomical data. The astrolabe was made in Occitania, in Toulouse, in 1216, and belonged to the ‘De Annibaldis’ family; similarities with astrolabes made by Ibrahim ibn al-Sahli suggest an Andalusian model around 1070.
