Speed of visual processing is constant across parafovea and the periphery
Abstract
The series of 5 experiments tests the surprising claim that visual processing is faster in the near periphery (~9 deg) than in the parafovea (~4 deg) by 90 ms. It employs multiple distinct paradigms including temporal order judgment, visual search, flash lag and visuo-spatial feature binding to examine the claim.
