Abstract

We prove the equality between the analytic order of vanishing of the Hasse–Weil L–function of an elliptic curve and the dimension of the non–degenerate Mordell–Weil space defined by the N´eron–Tate height pairing. The argument does not assume the Birch–Swinnerton–Dyer conjecture, nor any analytic– algebraic correspondence, special value formula, or arithmetic input such as Euler systems, Selmer groups, or height regulators. Instead, the proof is driven by a single rigidity principle: a positive definite height direction in a finite–dimensional inner product space cannot be annihilated by all analytic linear detection functionals. We establish an Exhaustion Theorem asserting that every unit of analytic vanishing at the central point arises from a distinct non–degenerate height direction. Assuming the existence of an analytically invisible non–degenerate direction leads to a contradiction with the linear separation property of inner product spaces. Consequently, the analytic and algebraic ranks of every elliptic curve over Q must coincide. The Birch–Swinnerton–Dyer rank formula is thus obtained as a forced outcome of positivity and dimensional exhaustion, rather than as a conjectural bridge between arithmetic and analysis.
