Abstract

This project contains the German Edition of Structure and Function of the Ahu–Moai Systems, which serves as the master of record for the conceptual framework: the complete, original, and fully articulated formulation of the conceptual and structural model. It presents the systemic architecture of the ahu–moai complexes in its most detailed form, including the ontological assumptions, structural decompositions, functional mappings, and dynamical relations that define the framework. The work develops a systemic interpretation of the ahu–moai structures as integrated socio‑material architectures. Rather than treating the monuments as isolated artifacts, the model analyzes them as components within a multilevel system involving environmental constraints, energetic flows, social organization, ritual functions, and structural coherence. The German Edition provides the full theoretical apparatus: definitions, structural primitives, systemic thresholds, and the logic of interdependence between architectural form and functional role. This edition also clarifies the methodological stance of the framework. It synthesizes insights from systems theory, structural anthropology, archaeology, and cultural dynamics to articulate how monumental architectures can be understood as emergent, self‑stabilizing configurations within broader ecological and social systems. The aim is not to reconstruct historical intentions but to model the systemic logic that makes such structures coherent, stable, and functionally intelligible. As the master of record, this edition contains the complete conceptual depth from which the curated international edition was derived. It should be used as the authoritative reference for the theoretical model, terminology, and structural definitions.
