Replication Dataset: Policing with Fear: The Militarisation–Human Rights Violations Nexus

This repository contains the data, code, and documentation required to replicate the analyses presented in: Policing with Fear: The Militarisation–Human Rights Violations Nexus Preprint version – February 2026 (not yet peer reviewed). Purpose The purpose of this replication dataset is to enable full transparency and reproducibility of the empirical analyses reported in the article. All statistical models, tables, and figures can be reproduced using the scripts provided in this repository. Data Sources All data included in this repository are derived exclusively from publicly available, open-source datasets. No proprietary data are used. The original data sources must be cited individually in any reuse of this dataset. Users are responsible for citing the primary data providers in accordance with their respective citation guidelines. Reproducibility The repository includes: Raw data (where redistribution is permitted) Harmonised country–year dataset Data preparation scripts Model estimation scripts (R; lavaan) Documentation detailing variable construction and transformations Output files for tables and figures All variables were harmonised using ISO-3 country codes and aligned by calendar year. Key variables were transformed into year-on-year first differences prior to analysis.
