Elaboración de dispositivo didáctico para la visualización de líneas de campo magnético
Abstract
Electromagnetism is a central axis of Physics; however, one of the main problems in its teaching lies in the abstraction of the concept of the magnetic field and the limited visualization of its field lines. The objective of this study was to construct a teaching device that allows magnetic field lines to be visualized and to determine the level of student satisfaction with its use as a support resource. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted at a descriptive-propositional level, which included the design and manufacture of the device through 3D printing and the application of a 10-item Likert survey; reliability was verified through a pilot test with sixth-semester students (n = 22). The instrument was then administered to students who had passed electromagnetism, grouping seventh and eighth semesters as a single group (n = 27). The device allowed field lines to be visualized in configurations with permanent magnets and an energized coil (400 and 1600 turns). The survey showed adequate internal consistency in the pilot (α = 0.849). In the final sample, the means per item ranged from 4.15 to 4.59, and the overall score had a mean of 4.36 (SD = 0.48), with values between 3 and 5. No inferential tests were performed; therefore, the p-value is not applicable (p = NA). It is concluded that the device is feasible as a teaching resource to support the visualization of the magnetic field, that it was evaluated favorably, and that future evaluations should incorporate learning measures and complementary qualitative techniques.
