El concurso de los saberes en el De bello Navariensi de Nebrija. La argumentación jurídica, teológica, histórica y geográfica en una traducción cultural paradigmática de la Primera Modernidad
Abstract
In this article, Nebrija’s De bello Navariensi is analyzed as a cultural translation of Luis Correa’s Historia de la conquista del Reino de Navarra. It is argued that Nebrija went beyond mere translation, adapting and enriching the original text with legal, theological, historical, and geographical arguments to justify the annexation of Navarre to Castile before a European audience. The study highlights the differences between the two authors: while Correa sought to glorify military deeds, Nebrija aimed to legitimize the conquest within a scholastic and humanistic framework, integrating diverse fields of knowledge to reinforce the official narrative of the Hispanic monarchy.
