Abstract

Through a thorough literature assessment, this research investigates the synergistic integration of digital technology in organic food production systems. We examine the ways in which blockchain traceability, IoT sensors, AI, and integrated platforms work together to address the specific safety and quality challenges facing organic farming. These technologies, when strategically aligned, create a resilient ecosystem capable of real-time monitoring and responsive action. Our findings demonstrate significant advantages, including 18% better nutritional retention, 92% shorter authentication times, and contamination detection up to 72 hours earlier. Additionally, the integration of automated data flows and machine learning enhances decision-making precision at various stages of the production cycle. Our analysis identifies four major technological clusters—data acquisition technologies, verification systems, analytical platforms, and application interfaces—as being more advanced than traditional systems in their ability to prevent predictive contamination, optimize quality, and provide transparent verification. Although there are obstacles to implementation, such as a lack of digital literacy and infrastructure, our research shows that intentional digital integration enhances the safety and quality of organic food while promoting sustainable rural development and upholding core organic values.
