Evaluation of selected gymnastic elements in physical education in high school
Abstract
Aim: The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the performance level of selected gymnastic elements among secondary school students and to verify the effectiveness of an eight-week intervention program focused on improving the level of technique execution. Methodology: The research involved 10 students (nd = 5, nch = 5) who completed an intervention program aimed at sport gymnastics elements. The level of mastery of gymnastic elements was assessed before and after completing the intervention program. Qualitative assessment methods were used. Results: After the intervention, improvement was observed in all monitored elements. The greatest progress was recorded in the backward circle with an improvement of 45.8 %, and the smallest in the cartwheel, which improved by 12.5 %. Differences between genders were small and mainly concerned specific types of elements. Conclusion: The intervention program proved to be effective and suitable for inclusion in school physical education. Further use is recommended, with emphasis on safety, progression, and fostering student motivation. KEYWORDS Intervention program, gymnastics, motor literacy, floor, vault, horizontal bar
