Form-Teacher Periods at Secondary Vocational Schools: A Concept Grounded in Legislation, Organisation and School Climate
Abstract
This diploma thesis focuses on class teacher sessions in vocational secondary schools and their potential as a systematic tool for improving class climate, preventing risky behaviour, and supporting student competencies. The aim of the thesis is to develop a comprehensive three- year schedule of class teacher sessions that reflects the legislative framework, organizational capacities of schools, the direct and indirect duties of class teachers, and the specific needs of vocational study programs. The theoretical part addresses the legal context of class teacher sessions, their integration into pedagogical practice, collaboration with school counselling professionals, and the influence of school climate on their effectiveness. The thesis also includes an analysis of current methodological guidelines and practical approaches used in implementing class teacher sessions. The empirical part is designed as a proposal of a practically applicable tool - a structured schedule based on expert sources and real teaching experience. The schedule is intended to be easily integrated into regular school practice and to provide class teachers with specific topics and activities adapted to each year of study.
