Attitudes towards the use of artificial intelligence tools for mental health among digital natives and digital immigrants
Abstract
Interní Abstract This thesis focuses on examining attitudes toward the use of artificial intelligence in mental health and the differences between the attitudes of digital natives and digital immigrants, and how these attitudes can influence the communication of these tools to the general public. The thesis seeks to find common guidelines as to why people are or are not interested in such solutions, what potentially prevents them from adopting these tools, how artificial intelligence in the field of mental health compares to human professionals, whether the willingness to use these tools differs according to the type of mental health issues, and how companies developing these services can implement the findings into their communication activities. The results show that the group of digital natives, which these tools mostly target, is not very interested in such tools according to the qualitative survey, and they still predominantly trust the human approach. On the contrary, digital immigrants surprisingly believe more in the future of these tools, even though they themselves would not want to use them. The results of the qualitative survey are then explained against the background of the theory of diffusion of innovations in society.
