Educational needs of secondary school principals in the capital city of Prague
Abstract
The thesis analyses the educational needs of secondary school principals in Prague and proposes a microlearning-based online course structure. The theoretical part defines the principal's role, prerequisites for entering the position, and competency areas that can be developed through continuing professional development. Institutions and programmes are mapped with a focus on digital formats, particularly microlearning and MOOCs. The empirical part investigates the needs of Prague principals using a questionnaire survey (N = 86) and descriptive statistics. Findings indicate strong development needs in crisis management, legal/regulatory literacy, and the use of digital tools. Respondents prefer flexible, short, practice-oriented learning formats. Based on the results, a microlearning course design for an LMS (Moodle) is proposed, with adaptations for different career stages and school sizes
