Quality of life of tinnitus patients treated with different physiotherapy methods
Abstract
Title: Quality of life of tinnitus patients treated with different physiotherapy methods Objective: To evaluate the effect of multimodal physiotherapy in individuals with somatosensory tinnitus on tinnitus handicap and tinnitus-related quality of life. Methods: Seventeen participants were enrolled in a single-arm quasi-experimental intervention study. The intervention had a multimodal character (focusing on the cervicocranial region, functional stabilization and self-therapy, with physical therapy modalities applied in part of the sessions). Outcomes were assessed using the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) and the SF-36 questionnaire. Changes between pre- and post-intervention scores were statistically tested using a paired t-test (α = 0.05). Basic descriptive statistics and graphical outputs for an initial assessment of distribution were produced in IBM SPSS Statistics 24. For statistically significant results, p-values, 95% confidence intervals and Cohen's d are reported; given the multiple testing of SF-36 dimensions, no alpha correction was applied and results outside the predefined hypotheses are interpreted as exploratory. Results: Within the individual SF-36 dimensions, the following changes were observed: Vitality (VT) improved significantly (t(16) = 6.19; p < 0.0001). General Health (GH)...
