Abstract

Reflective Memo: I discovered the Slow Fashion movement by accident my junior year of high school when I listened to design firm Civilization's Podcast "Beyond This Point, " which featured Oregon-based slow fashion company Olderbrother.Since this initial discovery, I've become obsessed with sustainable apparel and the drive behind the industry. This is why I decided to research this topic for my third ENGL-134 essay, which required research based arguments in favor of a particular side of an issue.I knew right away that I wanted to argue in favor of Slow Fashion for my paper, and I aimed to use this essay as a highlight piece on the lack of sustainability in current Fast Fashion as contrasted to the practices of Slow Fashion.I had a lot of fun deepening my knowledge on this emerging topic, and I hope that you enjoy learning about this new trend in simplicity and sustainability.
