Abstract
he contribution identifies the reasons why Antonio Labriola can be considered a classic of Italian thought. In particular, the pairing of philosophy of history and philosophy of praxis defines a philosophical framework within which the most significant issues of twentieth‐century Marxist debate—such as the question of the autonomy of the revolutionary subject—are addressed.
