Suurten kielimallien käyttöönottoon vaikuttavat tekijät akateemisessa työskentelyssä : kvantitatiivinen tutkimus suomalaisista yliopisto-opiskelijoista
Abstract
This thesis examines university students’ adoption and use of large language models (LLMs) in Finland by applying an adapted Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) framework. The proposed research model includes seven core UTAUT2 constructs to explain the behavioural intentions and actual usage patterns of LLMs. The study is based on survey responses from 93 students attending university in Finland using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). This study contributes to the research on the factors influencing university students’ engagement with LLMs. Price value emerged as the strongest predictor of behavioural intention, followed by social influence and hedonic motivation. In contrast, performance expectancy and facilitating conditions did not significantly predict intention. While some findings diverge from earlier studies, these differences may reflect the increasing maturity of LLM adoption or contextual characteristics of the Finnish higher education environment. The moderating role of academic integrity was not supported, indicating that ethical beliefs do not significantly alter the relationship between motivational drivers and adoption behaviour.
