Verbal Overshadowing in Taste Recognition
Abstract
Verbal overshadowing (VO) refers to impaired recognition of a stimulus after it has been verbally described, which has been widely tested in the visual domain. However, VO in taste recognition remains underexplored, though gustation is even more lexically impoverished than vision in both English and Chinese. The present study used three experiments to explore the role of VO in gustation.
