Abstract

Excavators are heavy equipment widely used in the construction and mining sectors, where the hydraulic system acts as the primary driver of all working components. One critical component in this system is the hydraulic cylinder bucket, which controls bucket movement during the excavation process. A Takeuchi TB 150 C excavator encountered a problem in the form of low power in the bucket cylinder movement, resulting in suboptimal performance. This study aims to identify the cause of the damage, explain inspection and repair procedures, and analyze the force and fluid flow rate in the hydraulic cylinder bucket. The methods used included literature review, field observations, interviews with mechanics, and the disassembly and assembly of cylinder components. The analysis was conducted through force and fluid flow rate calculations based on Pascal's Law. The results showed that the primary cause of low power was seal and O-ring damage, which caused hydraulic fluid leakage, resulting in decreased pressure and flow rate. After replacing the seal and adding hydraulic oil according to standards, the hydraulic cylinder bucket performance returned to normal, and the hydraulic system operated according to specifications.
