Jewish Scripture Echoes in Matthew 26:55 and 28:8 (D): Ezekiel, Isaiah, Psalms, and the Reassessment of Harmonizing Variants
Abstract
The paper proposes an analysis of Jewish scriptural echoes in Matthew 26:55 and 28:8 in Codex Bezae (D). It examines in particular the resonances with Ezekiel, Isaiah, and the Psalms, and questions the classification of certain variants as “harmonizing.” The study aims to show that these readings may reflect not a secondary harmonization, but rather an interpretive dynamic grounded in an active scriptural memory characteristic of certain textual milieus within early Christianity.
