Abstract

Graduate students are feeling increasing pressures to publish while in their graduate program because of program requirements or professional expectations. However, many graduate students may not have received the knowledge, skills, or preparation needed for them to navigate and persist through the academic publishing process, in part due to the lack of training, instruction, or mentorship in addition to their disciplinary studies. The objective of this scoping review is to identify the type and extent of training, instruction, or mentorship that graduate students receive on the topic of research publishing during their graduate programs.
