Abstract

Technologic advances in orthopaedic hardware have allowed for creative solutions for complex fractures in both the upper and lower extremities. Taking advantage of known anatomic approaches, achieving biologically favorable exposure, and combining it with biomechanically balanced fixation in these complex clinical scenarios have offered good clinical outcomes and reliable osseous healing in these modern times. It is important to review some enhanced fixation techniques and strategies in treating complex fractures of the humerus, femur, and tibia.
