Abstract

TransParent is a research project funded by the Academy of Finland. The research is conducted at the Human Information Processing Laboratory in Tampere University, Finland. Our goal is to investigate changes in behavioral, physiological, and hormonal responses to infant and adult social and emotional signals during the transition to parenthood. Using a variety of methods, we are studying participants at different phases of the transition to parenthood, such as women without children, pregnant women and their partners, and parents of young infants. After birth, the infants will also participate in laboratory assessments to provide data for analyses investigating associations between parental processing of infant signals during pregnancy and infant emotional development during the first year.
