The effect of criterion fluctuations on decision confidence
Abstract
In the Signal Detection Theory framework, confidence has been hypothesized to be computed as the distance from the Decision Variable to the Criterion. However, this criterion may not be static but instead fluctuate randomly (Vloeberghs et al., in prep.). Theoretically, such fluctuations should induce similar fluctuations in confidence. In this project, we aim to reanalyze studies available through the confidence database (Rahnev et al., 2020) to test whether fluctuations in decision criterion affect confidence.
