Abstract

The HSC Library’s Graphic Medicine Collection was created with the Wellness Collection in 2017. The original collection was created using reading lists from Matthew Noe and a working document by Alice Jagger that eventually became the basis for the Essential Graphic Medicine Annotated Bibliography, with emphasis placed on purchasing titles in areas of potential audience interest based on the health sciences programs and clinical support at the University of Florida. The collection is available for circulation by library visitors –including students, staff, and faculty of the HSC– and the general public; the focus was on purchasing in print, but some of the books have also been purchased as ebooks for courses. One of the primary aims of the Graphic Medicine Collection Expansion Team (Pomputius, Hough, Miller) is to increase representation of historically marginalized groups, or groups who experience health disparities, into our collection.
