Self-excitation provides an alternative account of the speed-accuracy trade-off in decision making.
Abstract
This project investigates whether self-excitation in the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck Model (OUM) provides a more compelling mechanistic account of the speed–accuracy trade-off (SAT) than traditional threshold-based diffusion models. We reanalyzed six published SAT datasets using a comprehensive set of OUM variants and conducted new experiments designed to test the primacy predictions of self-excitatory evidence accumulation.
