Abstract

To compare the effectiveness of combined general anesthesia (GA) and regional anesthesia (RA; peripheral nerve block [PNB] or epidural anesthesia [EA]) versus GA alone on functional impairment assessed by changes in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), measured using the Barthel Index, in patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery.
