Reflections on Celtic FC's Foundation's charity DNA in the absence of a CSR strategy
Abstract
This chapter discusses the charity ‘DNA’ of Celtic Football Club Foundation (CFCF). It integrates the literatures of strategy, business history, and Catholic Social Doctrine to better understand how the institutional context of the Society of Mary (‘the Marists’) in the 19th century, and the role of St Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP), helps inform the DNA of CFCF in the 21st century. It concludes by discussing where there is scope for CFCF to maintain the Marist legacy to alleviate poverty and support inclusion.
