The sense of agency in patients with schizophrenia measured by the Dot-Task
Abstract
Description: In order to study the sense of agency (SoA), we will use a novel visuomotor experimental task, called the "Dot-Task". We also measure the neuronal correlates of SoA through Electroencephalography (EEG) by analyzing steady state visual evoked potentials (SSVEPs). In the behavioral task, participants move the index finger of their dominant hand on a touchpad in a clockwise, circular movement. Their finger movement will be translated into one of three moving objects (circle, triangle, or square) on a screen, whose motion is a combination of the participants’ own finger movements and also pre-recorded finger movements of another person, thus producing continuous levels of prediction error. In the second task, participants move a single dot through their movements on the touchpad, that flickers in a 6 Hz frequency in order to elicit SSVEPs in this frequency band. In this task, additional EEG will be recorded. To ensure data quality, additional Eye-Tracking (EyeLink 1000) will be utilized.
