Abstract

Sufficient physical activity (PA), sleep and stress-management have a positive impact on the perceived health and quality of life of patients who are under treatment for or recover from cancer. Surprisingly, patients do not receive a lot of support in adopting or maintaining health lifestyle behaviors over the course of treatment and rehabilitation. The CARE-FIT project aims to embed the provision of a tailored eHealth program that provides individualized counceling and support on PA, sleep and stress-management for cancer patients in existing cancer care. Health care professionals refer patients to this eHealth program, after which they can use the program independently. The program provides participants with advices and support that match individual needs, preferences and opportunities. The feasibility and effectiveness of this approach on behavior, perceived health and quality of life will be evaluated. When successful and cost-effective, this eHealth intervention can be embedded in cancer care on a large scale.
