ATRACC (Asteroid Trajectory Redirection and Capture Concept)
Abstract
This project introduces my Asteroid Trajectory and Redirection Capture Concept, it’s a strategic approach for altering a near earth asteroids’ original orbit towards our moon in order to capture the (NEA’s) for rare earth minerals and metals. This sustainable concept is aimed to reducing metal and mineral mining harm to Earth’s ecosystems by harnessing the materials that space can provide. There’s strong potential for long-term economic benefit. The concept proposes redirecting the orbit of Near-Earth Asteroids (NEAs) into a stable lunar orbit with satellites piloted by humans from earth, the minerals and metals would then be mined either in lunar orbit or if its feasible to do so then the entire asteroid could be gently guided to either the moon or earth. Once mined and minerals and metals are processed then it can safely be transported back to earth to manufacturing companies for solar panels/ wind turbines/ or hydroelectric power generation. This concept is being shared publicly for the purpose of open discussion, collaborative research, partnerships, constructive feedback, and awareness only. All rights to the concept, technical design, and implementation remain fully owned by the author, NASA. This material can be used and applied to commercial, academic, governmental, or private development capacity with partnerships. I welcome feedback from anyone interested in space exploration, sustainability, or forward-thinking engineering. Whether you’re an expert in aerospace, an aerospace intern, satellite engineer, or simply someone with a curious mind, your thoughts are appreciated. This concept can be researched but partnerships in applying the concepts must include deals with me.
