Improving legibility : visual strategies for four unpublished cuneiform objects from Ghent University
Abstract
This article presents a new visualization method applied to four unpublished cuneiform objects from the Ghent University Museum. By overlaying the “Shaded” and “Sketch 1” filters from RTI models, the resulting composite images enhance the legibility of cuneiform signs and seal impressions while preserving morphological details. This approach enables more accurate and detailed analysis of the inscriptions and proves especially effective for publication, offering clear and readable images suitable for both print and digital formats.
