Revisiting journal materiality as a space for circulating ideas : implications for media discourse analysis
Abstract
In this research, I return to reflections I previously developed on the materiality, historicity, and sociability practices of postwar intellectual journals. At the same time, I seek, first, to connect this line of inquiry to my current work on a different material substrate -namely the printed daily press -and, second, to extend the investigation to the infrastructural transformations brought about by the digitization of information and metadata (on the relationship between intellectual and academic journals, the dissemination of knowledge in the humanities, the profitability imperatives of cognitive capitalism and digital materiality, see Guédon & Loute 2017; Collectif 2024).
