Abstract

We describe who trusts political scientists in a context where political science is relatively new and situated in the semi-periphery of the global research community, largely untouched by the credibility revolution — the Czech Republic. We then test whether methodological rigor and open science practices can mitigate motivated reasoning when results contradict respondents’ preferred party. Given the relatively low politicization of science and limited exposure to political science, we treat this as a favorable case in which such practices may succeed.
