This article highlights the specifics of integrating classical and modern approaches in the educational process at the Department of Architecture Fundamentals and Architectural Design. It describes a teaching methodology that combines traditional techniques (order drawing, wash rendering, model making) with current architectural trends and authorial solutions. Special attention is given to the reintroduction of the "rough" or "sketch" model stage as a key exploratory tool. The article reviews the project activities of second-year students, particularly the development of small architectural forms (SAFs) with expanded and more complex tasks, which stimulates creativity and competition. The importance of practical experience through excursions and the integration of the educational process with real project stages is emphasized. The best student works, dedicated to the creation of public spaces with an emphasis on ecological and national motifs, are presented, underscoring their relevance for contemporary Ukraine.
