The Human Operating System— EBA: The Universal Architecture of Commitment, Fulfillment, and AI Alignment

For centuries, we have built our societies around the Enlightenment’s Holy Grail— the "Rationalist Presumption" that the Intellect is the ultimate arbiter of good and that when an agent knows the good, he can make it his will. Today, across the spectrum of human experience, we are witnessing a synchronized collapse of continuity, commitment, and human thriving costing over $10 trillion a year. Marriages disintegrate, employees disengage, and mental health plummets into deeper and deeper crisis. No one can fully explain why. While concurrently, AI poses an existential threat with no apparent solution in sight. The Enlightenment was evolutionarily necessary, following a primitive epoch in human history. This finding validates a universal "Non-Compensatable Threshold" (M)—a biological boundary condition below which neither conviction nor discipline can sustain human engagement. The paper demonstrates a "Single-Pillar Collapse" phenomenon which replicates mathematically across a myriad of unrelated domains: • Marriage: 67% of divorces occur in low-conflict unions where partners still "believe" in the marriage but lack emotional closeness. • Business: 60-80% of customer defectors describe themselves as "satisfied" (Belief intact) just prior to leaving. • Addiction: Up to 75% of patients carry unaddressed trauma, rendering cognitive-behavioral interventions ineffective without an emotional-first approach.
