Abstract

Due to the limited opportunities for training in Pediatric Surgery on the African continent, e-learning has become a necessity for many medical students and trainees. We all became conversant with the concept of distance learning using technology during the COVID-19 pandemic. Medical education, especially in the surgical specialties, needs mentors willing to teach and train younger colleagues. Although e-learning and tele-mentoring have been used for medical student education and training in other surgical specialties across Africa, they have not been reported in pediatric surgery on the continent. We plan to review the English-language literature on this topic by conducting this scoping review and suggesting a way forward.
