testosterone and perception of social rank
Abstract
This study investigated how exogenous testosterone modulates the perceptions toward nonverbal signals of social rank in men. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled experiment, 110 healthy Han Chinese male participants received a single dose of testosterone gel or a placebo. They then evaluated a series of images displaying dominance, prestige, neutral, and smiling on traits of dominance, prestige, agency, and communion.
